In this comprehensive study, FRC examines how financial advisors view variable annuities and use the product in their practices. An FRC survey of advisors, conducted in partnership with market research firm InsightExpress, is the primary research foundation of the study, in which we examine how advisors position VAs with their clients, the emphasis placed on product features, factors used to select sub-accounts, the role advisors foresee for VAs as retirement income vehicles, and what advisors consider to be the best practices for VA wholesaling. FRC also analyzes why other advisors do not currently use VAs and how VA firms might overcome these objections.
